Understanding Your Skin Type

Today we will be talking about skin types! There are 5 basic skin types (Oily, Dry, Combination, Sensitive and Normal) and by understanding your skin type you can take care of your skin, having it healthy without problems.

1. Oily Skin
All skin types will produce natural oils to protect itself from the outside and keep it as healthy as possible, but with the oily type of skin is different: you can observe that during the day your face tends to be really shiny and feel greasy to the touch; This extra oil is produced by the skin because it lacks of good moisture so it produces more oil for protection. People with acne will usually have problems with oily skin and not taking care of it will produce more acne.
To better see if you have oily skin, take a tissue paper and tap it on your face; now look on the tissue and see if you have any oily residue on the tissue paper; also, the whole face should be oily.

2. Dry Skin
Dry skin is very common, your skin lacking in oil production your face will tend to have flakes of skin falling usually arround your nose and forehead. This type of skin feels dry to the touch, leaving no oil residue behind; it doesn’t feel as firm and elastic and it can become sensitive if not taking care of. You can also observe fine pores around the nose area.

3. Combination Skin
This skin types combines the symptoms from the first two skin types and can be a difficult skin type.

t-zone  <– This is the T-zone! Look closely in the mirror and see if your T-zone act differently than the rest of your face; If your T-zone is oily but you have dry skin or if your T-zone is dry but you have oily skin.
This is how you can determine if you have a combination skin type.

4. Sensitive Skin
Sensitive skin usually is a dry skin type, but a more severe case of dryness; by this I mean you are sensitive to a lot of products on your face, you get redness around your nose and mouth, tends to feel tight and it irritates very quick. Also this type of skin is prone to breaking into dark spots arround the face. This type of skin need a special care, with special products that you need to research in detail.

5. Normal Skin
Leaving the last for the best skin type, this is the holly grail of the skin types.. by all this I mean you have none of the symptoms above, your skin is clear, feels always clean and with no oil residue, you do not have flakiness arround your nose or mouth, you do not have open pores or acne problems. But by all means thru time we all need to take a little bit care of our skin, so having a normal skin type does not make you ageless.
